Palimpsesto

3.400 dead light bulbs, suspended from the ceiling with nylon string, form a screen. A video-projector casts small spots of light on the screen. These spots randomly move across the surface, causing the light bulbs to seem to light up again. When the public gets close to the screen, the spots of light converge to form a larger undulating blob. Gradually the spectator realizes that the light blob follows him/her as he/she moves. The public’s presence seems to give light to the dead light bulbs.

Palimpsesto is a project by Daniel Canogar. Jordi worked in the programming and production of the project, that’s why it has been included in this selection of works. Video and photos are property of Daniel Canogar.

The art piece was exhibited in Medialab Prado and in MNCARS
